boycott Salesgenie.com for racist Super Bowl commercial

Posted on: Sunday, February 3, 2008 10:14 pm

What was salesgenie.com thinking when it created a commercial featuring pandas with horrible Asian accents.  To make matters worse, they had 2nd commercial during the Super Bowl where a an Indian guy is getting yelled as by his boss.

I cannot believe these 2 commercials were allowed to be aired by FOX just because a company is willing to pay the outrageous 2 million dollars to air a 30-second commercial.   Salesgenie.com are racists!

I commend the New York Mets for acquiring super stud pitcher Johan Santana for 4 prospects.  When you have a chance to acquire a dominating #1 pitcher, you do it.   No doubt, Santana will be a dominating pitcher in NY and in the National League.

The small market Minnesota Twins had no choice but to give trade Santana as there was no chance that they would be able to pay Santana enough money to keep him when he was scheduled to become a free agent after next season.

This is yet another example of a small market team forced to  give up All Star players to a large market team because they cannot afford to keep them and because players do not want to play there.  This is a problem for MLB when a small market team is forced into these trades in order to stay profitable.  It hurts baseball and hurts the fans.  Its too bad that in many professional sports a mediocre team can make money.  There is just no incentive to improve your team and keep/acquire good players.

NBA: Whoa Nellie! C-Webb back with the Golden State Warriors

After 13 years, Chris Webber is back with the team he started his NBA career with, the Golden State Warriors.  Personally, I like the move for the struggling Warriors who are in desperate need of a low post player to complement all of their great guards and small forwards.  This is not a move that suddenly makes the Warriors title contenders, but it will help them sneak into the playoffs for another year.  Webber is not the same MVP caliber, 20+ ppg player he was while playing for the Sacramento Kings, but he can still provide a solid 20-25 minutes per game in the low post and runs the floor very well.

I do not think the rift that existed between coach Don Nelson and Webber 13 years ago, will be an issue.  Both have made it clear its not an issue and I expect them to get along just fine.   The media has simply made too big of a deal of this issue.  It is not as if PJ Carlisimo is bringing back Latrell Sprewell back.  Now, that would be a great story.

Chris Webber joins the Golden State Warriors.

Roger Federer was sent packing in the semi-finals of the 2008 Australian Open losing in straight sets.  Federer is still stuck at 12 Grand Slam titles traling Pete Sampras by only 2.

In his remarkable Grand Slam run, Federer has not had a full-time coach.    I think Federer should strongly consider it as the gap between Federer and the rest of the pack is shrinking.  Federer did not look like the dominating player of the past few years in this tournament as he was challenged in the early rounds and failed to step up his game when it counted.    While I think Federer should surpass Sampras’ 14 Grand Slam titles, his dominance appears to be over.

Michael Chang was elected to the Tennis Hall of Fame.  Well deserved! Chang is still the youngest male player to ever win a Grand Slam title at the age of 17 when he won the 1989 French Open.

Chang was an exciting player to watch.  What Chang did not have in physical stature, he made up in exceptional speed and an incredible heart.  Who can forget Chang’s miraculous run in the 1989 French Open defeating Ivan Lendl in a dramatic five-set semifinal where he battled cramps and his win against Stefan Edberg in the finals.
