The Olympics are all about sport and competition and nothing to do with politics. I am appalled by the protesting and scuffles that have broken out thus far during the Olympic torch run. With all the police and security surrounding the torch runners, you would think the President of the United States is walking through town. What a shame.
Do not call her Olympic Champion anymore. Now call her a cheater and convicted felon. Its the end of yet another sad chapter to the ongoing BALCO steroids scandal. Marion Jones, the 3-time Olympic gold medalist is finally coming clean and confessing that she used steroids before and after the 2000 Olympics. Like all the others, Jones claims she did not know what she was taking at the time.
For any World Class athlete, there is no excuse for not know what you are putting in your body. I feel for all those other athletes she was cometing against during that time. Many were robbed of Olympic glory because of the actions of Jones and others involved with BALCO. We all thought we were watching something special with Marion Jones who seemed just head and shoulders above her peers.
Jones was a gifted athlete way back at Thousand Oaks High School in California and actually went on to win an NCAA Basketball championship at the University of North Carolina. It makes you wonder without steroids, how well she would have fared.
Its tough to feel sorry for her when it took her so long to come clean with the truth. We all wished it was not true, but ultimately, you cannot run away from the truth and Jones’ judgment day has come.
I just wonder who is next ? Bonds?
