Minnesota Vikings WR Troy Williamson missed last week’s game against San Diego to remain in South Carolina following the death of his grandmother who helped raise him and to visit his brother who has been in and out of a coma as a result of a car accident since September.  Only after being slammed by the media did the Minnesota Vikings agree to pay Williamson his one-game salary for the game.

The NFL is a unique situation where you get paid to play in 16 games during a season that takes place in short period of about 4 months.  Every game counts.    What if a player had a relative that is having surgery or their wife is about to give birth to their child?    Where does the team draw the line?

My stance is this: you DO NOT pay a player for missing a game to attend to any personal matter.  Put yourself in the shoes of an NFL owner.  I do have a heart, but I do run a sports business and I understand the importance of family, but I pay players to play on Sundays and if they cannot fulfil that obligation, then they should not be paid.  I do not care if you are an overpaid WR like Troy Williamson, or super-stud Tom Brady.  You miss a game, you don’t get paid.   Period, end of discussion.

For those who saw the Eagles play the NY Giants.  McNabb, 15-of-31 for 138 yards and the rest of the Eagles offense looked horrible.

Hey Andy …  YANK HIM

McNabb is simply not the strong armed, mobile QB he once was.  He runs, correction..  hobbles around the field .  McNabb is clearly NOT Dan Marino as he cannot be successful sitting inthe pocket and throwing.   He was sacked 12 times.  12 sacks!!!  12 sacks!!!   You figure coach Andy Reid would make some adjustments to the blocking scheme on the offensive line after the 5th or 6th sack, but that obviously did not happen.   When is is Andy Reid going to finally have the nerve to finally pull the plug on McNabb and yank him for the backup QB.  Lets face it, they NEVER should have let Jeff Garcia go during the offseason and rushed McNabb back.

I have been a very big critic of McNabb and his abilities.  McNabb needs a very good #1 WR like a Terrell Owens to be successful and the Eagles simply do not have that.  Year after year, the Eagles think they can be successful on offense without a big name #1 receiver and that is simply not the case.    Just by noticing the lack of offensive adjustments during the game, it appears that Andy Reid’s mind is elsewhere.

DO SOMETHING!  Yank McNabb until he can run again.  Make some adjustments on the offensive line and how about finding a free-agent WR because these current WRs simply suck and offer no help for McNabb or anyone else you throw at QB.

Philly fans, keep booing…  They deserve it!

Whats wrong with Da Bears ??

Posted on: 24, Sep

Last season, da Chicago Bears were in the Super Bowl.  They looked like crap last night against the Dalls Cowboys who went in and steam-rolled them at Soldier Field.  This matchup wasn’t even close.

Whats is the problem??  Well, where should I start.    Where is that incredible defense that took them to the Super Bowl last season?  Last night, they looked horrendous and could not stop the Cowboys as they were able to run and Romo was passing with ease.  Overrated and overpaid Cedric Benson, continues to suck and continues to fumble the ball in key situations.  Where is Thomas Jones now ?  Lastly, Rex Grossman ..  His name says it all GROSS man.  Just GROSS.  I lost count of how many bad throws he made into double and triple coverage last night.  This guy sucked last season and guess what, he still sucks.  What are the Bears thinking?   Why did they not spend some money and bring in a free-agent QB to take over this Super Bowl caliber team?  Do da Bears really think Rex is a good QB ?

Lets face it, the Bears are very similar to the Baltimore Ravens team that won the Super Bowl where their defense was the strength of their team.  They were let by Trent Dilfer who we all know is not that good, but he is smart and conservative which is what the Bears need at QB.  Dilfer rarely forced the ball into coverage and would rather see their defense come on the field since that was their strength.   Plus, they had a hard-nosed RB in Jamal Lewis that could get those key yards when needed.  The Bears have a great defense and an RB in Benson  that can do those very samethings as Jamal Lewis (if he can just hold onto the ball).  Now, they just need a QB  that can conservatively run their offense.  That guy is not Rex Grossman.  Grossman has a good arm and loses to throw in coverage, often times getting intercepted and putting their defense in tough situations.  I think Brian Griese would be a better option for them.  Griese has an OK arm, but he does not throw a lot of INTs.  He had several very good seasons at Denver where his TD/INT ratio was very good.    Based on the Bears’ performance and the reaction of the fans, I am sure a change at QB is imminent.

Norv Turner

Posted on: 24, Sep

I would hire Norv Turner in a heartbeat to fill the role of offensive coordinator, as he has proven to be able to run an offense and groom QBs (Troy Aikman, Trent Green) everywhere he has held this position,  but as head coach forget it!!!

Why do NFL teams continue to hire Norv Turner as head coach.  Let me rephrase my question..  How many more playoff teams will Norv Turner turn to crap ?  He coached the Redskins who were playoff-bound, then they went to crap.  Turner coaches the Raiders and he turns them to crap.  Now, Turner has another successful run a offensive coordinator and the San Diego Chargers hire him.  The Chargers were the best team in the AFC last year, and they decide to hire a guy with this track record.

The offense looked out-of-sync against the Packers.  After the opening drive, they did nothing on offense the rest of the game.  LT, the best player on the planet is getting stopped on every run and is putting up horrendous numbers.  Phillip Rivers cannot throw to Antonio Gates on every play.    So far this season, they are 1-2.  Is there a trend here?  Take a guess at what will become of the Chargers this season.

He has been overrated and over-hyped since he first started in the league. I just noticed that on ESPN.com that in a recent interview with HBO, McNabb says “There’s not that many African-American quarterbacks, so we have to do a little bit extra,” McNabb tells HBO. “Because the percentage of us playing this position, which people didn’t want us to play … is low, so we do a little extra.”    Anyways, last night on MNF while watching McCrap stink it up on the field and listening to the fans boo hin, they brought up the Rush comment from several years ago.  I might have missed it, but none of the commentators criticized Rush for making the comment, almost accepting it as fact.  All I can say is the way McNabb has been playing, he deserves all the boos and criticism he is getting and it has nothing to do with the color of his skin.   Black QBs are NOT criticized any more than non-black QBs.  Ask the Mannings about that. Every QB except Tom Brady is criticized by fans and media and for good reason.  Black QBs should just be glad they are getting the opportunity that asians are not. I dont hear anyone saying anything about that, just ask Timmy Chang.  A superstar QB from University of Hawaii and no one wanted him in the NFL.
