Brett Favre retires.

Posted on: 4, Mar

Brett Favre is retiring from the Packers after an incredible 17-year Hall-of-Fame career.  A year ago, this would not have come as a shock and in fact would have been welcomed by many Packer fans,  as Favre and the Packers were coming off a horrendous season.

Favre played horribly in the NFC Championship game against the New York Giants.  After that game, I am sure many of us including myself thought Favre would come back for at least one more shot at a Super Bowl after coming so close this season.

Favre could have played another 3 seasons at a very high level.  He was just that good.  Already with a Super Bowl victory, what else is there to play for?  Quite frankly, in my opinion the Packers were clearly overrated last season.  They were not as a good of a team as everyone had thought.  I think Favre realized that the Packers are farther away from another Super Bowl than many people think.

Good luck Aaron Rodgers.

It was clearly not the storybook ending everyone thought it would be for the New England Patriots in Super Bowl 42 and their quest for a perfect 19-0 season.

Why did they lose?

The Giants defense pressured Tom Brady more than any other team all season. The Giants front 4 was relentless all game long and the defense stepped up when they had to. The Giants offense did not do much until the 4th quarter with 2 TD drives.
Bad coaching Bill Belichick - Why did Belichick elect to go for it on fourth and 13 in the 3rd quarter when the Patriots leading 7-3 instead of attempting the 49-yard field goal?  The Pats were clearly not prepared as well as they should have been for this game.  Walking off the field with 2 seconds left in the ball game was such a poor display of sportsmanship.  Belichick is such a sore loser.   Shame on the Pats and shame on Belichick.

Why does the media hate Jessica Simpson?  Lets start blaming Tom Brady’s girlfriend Gisele Bundchen for his poor performance in thr Super Bowl just like the media blamed Jessica Simpson for no good reason for Tony Romo’s horrible performances at the end of the season.  I am sure Brady would have played much better in the Super Bowl if it were not for Gisele.  Instead of hanging out with his super hot girlfriend, he should have been getting treatment for his ankle.

Congrats to the NYG Giants!  They came in red-hot with nothing to lose and they took it to the Patriots.  Eli Manning got it done when it counted.  Its amazing how much he has matured in these playoffs.  It all started when Jeremy Shockey got injured and no longer having to listen to Shockey bitch and complain about not getting the ball.

You are good if you go undefeated in the regular season.  To go undefeated in the playoffs and win the Super Bowl, you have to be great.  The Patriots are simply on th that great.  18-1 is good, not too bad,  but simply not great.

Let this be a lesson to everyone.  CHEATERS NEVER WIN!  Cheating will only get you so far, like in the Patriots case, to the Super Bowl, but eventually it catches up to you!!!

What was salesgenie.com thinking when it created a commercial featuring pandas with horrible Asian accents.  To make matters worse, they had 2nd commercial during the Super Bowl where a an Indian guy is getting yelled as by his boss.

I cannot believe these 2 commercials were allowed to be aired by FOX just because a company is willing to pay the outrageous 2 million dollars to air a 30-second commercial.   Salesgenie.com are racists!

As expected, the New England Patriots defeated the San Diego Chargers 21-12 in the AFC Championship and earned a trip to the Super Bowl on February 3rd.

What was a shock to me was no that the Patriots won, but why was LT on the sidelines?  This was not a regular season game with nothing on the line.  This was the AFC Championship game, the second most important game of the year where the winner goes to the Super Bowl.    Apparently, it was LT’s decision to sit it out.  I think he should have at least played periodically through the game.  Antonio Gates had a dislocated toe, Philip Rivers had a torn ACL that will require surgery after the game, yet they both played their hearts out.  LT has a sprained knee that will not require surgery.  LT showed no heart and no desire to gut it out and try to help his team win.

LT was quoted as saying ”My thinking also was, a 100-percent Michael Turner and Darren Sproles was way better than a 50-percent me.  It just didn’t make sense for me to try to play.”.  This could not be further from the truth.  LT is by far the best player on the planet.  A 50% LT is better than most backs in the game.  I did not expect LT to play every down for the entire game, but I expected him out there periodically even as a decoy.    Very disappointing.

The Tennessee Titans fired their offensive coordinator, Norm Chow.

This is a big mistake by the Titans and I am appalled by this move.  The problem is not Norm Chow, its Vince Young.  Titans should have gotten rid of Vince Young.  It took Brett Favre nearly 6 years before he became the hall of fame QB he is today learning from offensive genius Mike Holmgren.  Young is not capable of mastering an NFL offense nor does he throw well enough to be a superstar QB in the NFL and lead his team to a Super Bowl.   Young is a Michael Vick, but not as good.  Strong inaccurate arm, runs very well, but cannot effectively throw the ball well in the pocket.  Young could have definitely used a few more years of good guidance from someone like Norm Chow who has a proven record of developing great NFL QBs.

Young made great strides this past season leading the Titans to a 10-6 record and earning a wild card spot in the playoffs.  What was the problem?  The offense got the job done when it needed to.

Jeff Fisher is one of the best coaches in the NFL, but he got it wrong this time.  Good luck finding another offensive coordinator that can help nurture Vince Young, because it ain’t gonna happen.  The Titans and Vince Young are heading back to NFL mediocrity.
