Who is #1? Who is the best college football team in America? According to the current BCS rankings, its Ohio State, LSU, Oregon, and Kansas.
Ohio State is the master of scheduling and expose the biggest loophole of this crappy ranking system. Do not play any tough out-of-conference games and get lucky and win your mediocure conference. So far, so good. They have not beaten anyone, but yet they’re ranked #1 and probably headed to the BCS Title game if they can just beat Michigan. LSU seems to have 9 lives as they pulled out another big win with another big 4th quarter comeback. Then there is Oregon who just beat highly-ranked ASU and Kansas who continues to steam roll thru the Big 12. If this tend continues, Oregon and Kansas are about th get screwed just like Auburn (who were undefeated) did a few years ago.
I am a PAC-10 guy myself and would love to see Oregon in the title game, but I want to see change! Fix this crappy BCS system and go to a playoff. No one wants to see Kansas go undefeated and finish 3rd or 4th in the final BCS Standings with no change to play for the national title. How many times is it going to take for a team in a power conference to go undefeated and finish out of the top 2 before this system gets fixed?
I understand the tradition of the Bowl games and the amount of money associated with them. Times hve changed for example, not all the major bowl games are on Jan 1 like in years past. The NCAA can do better needs to do something about this by developing a playoff system that incorporates the major bowl games as part of it.
Go Kansas and screw the BCS!
el choco loco moment - LSU wins, Auburn blows..
It takes luck to win the National Title and LSU pulled another win out of their hat last Saturday night. Trailing Auburn nearly the entire game, LSU QB Matt Flynn threw a 22-yard fade to the back of the end zone on 3rd down and 6, to beat Auburn with :01 remaining. All Auburn had to do was break up that play and not let the receiver catch the ball for a TD and the game would have ben over.
Instead LSU wins, game over!!!
el choco loco moment - The CAL Bears blows it against unranked UCLA 30-21.
For the 2nd straight week, CAL blows it on another boneheaded QB play at the end of the game. The idiot CAL QB this game, Nate Longshore was driving the Bears down the field to the UCLA 30 trailing by only 3 points when the Longshore threw an INT that is returned for a TD. Instead of at least attempting a game-tying FG, the game is over and so is CAL’s season.
#2 USC loses to Stanford at home 24-23! Stanford! Are you kidding me. John David Booty played just like his name and threw 4 INTs. We are talking about Stanford. Even UCLA destroyed Stanford. What an embarrassment to USC and the Pac-10.
This is just what the rest of the country wants, the Pac-10 to lose as the West Coast bias is still alive and kicking. The voters hate voting for west coast teams and relish every opporunity to knock drop them in the rankings, thus excluding them from the BCS and especially the BCS title game. Let’s just pray that our last great hope for the west coast and the Pac-10, the CAL Bears can keep on winning and represent the Pac-10 in the BCS title game!! Go Bears!
My beloved UCLA loses to Utah … UCLA is so overrated. I am not surprised. Year after year, UCLA is supposed to get better and every year, and every year, they get upset by some unranked team. Its time to fire Dorrell as he is not getting it done.
This is a perfect example of the media hyping up a team every year. Its partly the West Coast bias of college football because the media and pollsters are dying to have a Pac-10 team step up and beat USC. Every year, they think its my beloved UCLA Bruins and every year they are dead wrong.
I was at the USC-UCLA game last year when UCLA won 13-9. Unfortunately, it screwed the PAC-10 over in the BCS and it suddenly made a sorry season a great one for UCLA. In the process, Dorrell is suddenly a great coach and savior for UCLA. Frankly, just because you win (or lose) a big rivalry game does not make you a great (or bad) coach. Lets look at the numbers since Dorrell has been head coach. 6 or more losses in 3 out of 4 seasons. That is ridiculous .
