What in the world are Hawaii and Illinois doing in the BCS Bowl games?   If this is an improvement on the BCS system, then those people are idiots.  These first BCS games for 2008 have turned out to be so lopsided.

Clearly, Illinois was outmatched against USC.  Illinois plays one great game against Ohio State and they get awarded a trip to the Rose Bowl.  Then they get their butts kicked by USC.  Ridiculous.

Hawaii is a joke.  They went 12-0 against horrible competition.  Then, they bitch and moan about lack of respect from the BCS and the rest of the country.  The Sugar Bowl comes around when they actually have to play a good team and they get destroyed.   Hawaii should have received the respect they deserve which is ZERO respect.  Plus, they should have been left out of the BCS.  With the current system, I am begging the voters to please exclude any team out of the WAC that does not play a decent out-of-conference schedule.  The WAC is not a power conference and do not deserve any respect from the BCS.

Shame on the BCS.  This BCS system is so flawed it is ridiculous.  It has produced more lopsided games than competitive ones.

Lookout USC and the Pac-10 because Rick Neuheisel is back in town.  Today, UCLA hired one of their own in Rick Neuheisel to coach their football team back to prominance.  As a UCLA alum myself, I could not be happier!

This is a great hire by UCLA.  Neuheisel is a tireless recruiter with an incredible offensive mind which UCLA so badly needs.  Past violations at Colorado and at Washington where he has a combined record of 66-30,  mainly had to do with illegal contacts with recruits which all head coaches in major programs do.   Outside of Mike Bellotti at Oregon, none of the other candidates had the credentials as Neuheisel.

Slick Rick is our man!  If he can’t do it, no one can!!!

This college football season has been one of the most unpredictable in many years with so many upsets all the way to the last day of the season.  The upsets of the top 2 teams this past weekend has thrown this already screwed up BCS formula/system into chaos.

LSU - Impressive wins all season long including the SEC Championship game, but despite 2 losses both in triple overtime, they were the most deserving team based on their strength of schedule and winning the SEC Championship.  I do not have any issues seeing them in the BCS Championship game, but I am a little surprised it happened since they were so low in the polls prior to Saturday’s game.  I just think the voters did not want to see Georgia sneak in based since they did not play in and win the SEC Championship and did everythink possible to make sure that it did not happen.

Ohio State - They are the masters of scheduling that is for sure.  OSU understands exactly how this screwed up BCS System works and take full advantage of it.  They finish their season early with no Big 10 Championship game to worry about and they simply sat back and watch the top teams lose at the very end.  I hate OSU, but based on winning the Big 10, its tough to argue against them being in the BCS Championship game.

Oklahoma - What might have been… Had they not lost that game to Texas Tech at the end of the season, they would definitely be in the BCS Championship game.   In fact, I think they are more deserving than Ohio State, but 2 losses make it tough and unfortunately left them out of the top 2.

USC - Same as Oklahoma….  The Oregon loss. I am OK with since they were a top 10 team at the time with Dennis Dixon, but how in the hell did they lose to Stanford?   Who knows, but as a result, they go to the Rose Bowl.

Hawaii - The WAC is definitely a weak conference and going undefeated with no chance in hell of finishing in the top 2 in the BCS standings is one of he biggest problems with this system.  At least they were selected to the Sugar Bowl after their great season.  We will see how good this team really is against a very good Georgia Bulldogs team.

Georgia - Sitting pretty at #4 on Saturday, I am sure they thought they were going to be bumped up to #2 with Missouri and West Virginia losing.  The voters simply wanted to ‘hide’ one of the system’s major flaws in possibly seeing a team that did not win their conference finish in the top 2.

West Virginia - All they had to do was beat the Pitt and they would have squeaked into the top 2 with their easy schedule, but that obviously did not happen. I admit,  prior to their loss on Saturday, I was a high on West Virginia, but now I think they should have been excluded from the BCS.  They got lucky.

Virginia Tech - Another great season in the ACC with an unlucky loss to Boston College.  Otherwise, their ACC title win earned them their BCS selection.

Illinois - The Rose Bowl really wanted to keep the tradition of the Big 10 vs. the PAc-10.  Illinois with their great win over Ohio State get the nod.

Kansas - With an unimpressive 10-1 record, they are so undeserving of their selection.  They finished lower in the final BCS rankings than Missouri who destroyed them, but yet they get the nod.  What injustice.

TOO BAD
Missouri -  Stated Saturday #1 and still ended up ranked higher than Kansas, but they get screwed.  Their strength of schedule was better and unlike Kansas, they had to play Oklahoma whom they lost to twice.  Despite their impressive record, they get left out.  Why ?

Why all this trouble?  Lets see a college football playoff!

I admit that prior to their horrendous 13-9 loss on Saturday against Pitt, I was a huge supporter of West Virginia finishing #1 or #2 in the final BCS STandings despite their weak schedule and weak conference.  After watching them play against the terrible Pitt Panthers, I have changed my mind.  West Virginia is overrated and if you can’t beat Pitt, you do not even belong in the BCS.  They should have dropped even further in the final rankings.

Pat “Plexiglass” White was once again knocked out of the ballgame.  So, without Pat White in the game, they should have given the ball to their other All-american player Steve Slaton, but of course that does not happen.  why does Slaton only end up with 11 yards on 9 rushes ?

Hawaii Rainbows are undefeated and winners of their conference, but has no chance in hell of playing for the BCS national championship.

With a little help, the two-loss Georgia Bulldogs have a chance to finish in the top 2 in the BCS rankings and play for the BCS national championship despite not making it to the SEC Championship game.

Ohio State, currently #3 in the BCS rankings,  by virtue of their typical weak out-of-conference schedule and finishing their season early, can sneak intp the top 2 and play for the BCS national championship.

See anything wrong?
