Roy Jones easily defeated Felix Trinidad in their fight by a unanimous decision.  It is a shame that this fight did not happen back in 2001 when both fighters were in their prime.  The way Trinidad performed, he should seriously consider retiring for good.  Trinidad looked like nothing of his old self and was no match for the washed up has-been Roy Jones.   Firstly, he appeared overweight and simply not comfortable at fighting at 170 pounds.  Plus, his boxing skills were very rusty after the the 3-year layoff which did not help either.

This fight just shows how much money is in the sport of boxing.  This fight should not have been on a pay-per-view event as both Jones and Trinidad are no longer big draws in boxing.  These overpaid ridiculous promoters are getting away with bloody murder.  Fans and viewers deserve much better.

We all know how the fight between Pretty Boy Floyd Mayweather and Ricky Hatton ended on Saturday night.

I was very disappointed with the referee in this fight, Joe Cortez. It seems as if Cortez was biased towards Mayweather.   His constant interaction between the fighters made it virtually impossible for Hatton to win this fight.  Every single time the fighters got close or Hatton had Mayweather against the ropes, Mayweather would grab Hatton and Cortez would jump in between them and break them up.  This is Hatton’s strength and his strategy, but yet Cortez gave him no opportunity to wear down Mayweather.  In fact, Cortez would always look at Hatton and blame him for having to step in and to make matters worse, Cortez deducted a point from Hatton when Mayweather got scared and turned his head away from Hatton which resulted in a blow to the back of the head.

This led to the inevitable deat of Hatton as Mayweather picked his spots, bobbing and weaving in the center of the ring and finally catching Hatton with a vicious left hook that sent Hatton off the turnbuckle and onto the canvas.  Any championship fight should NOT go this way.  The referees need to call the match fairly and give both fighters the opportunity to win the fight which I did not think happened in this fight.  This fight would have been much closer and more exciting had Hatton been able to fight the way he always fights.
