Yet again, I just thought of another flaw with this screwed up BCS system.  Many teams have 4 or more weeks off between their last game and the BCS Bowl game.  Why?  The BCS/NCAA bitch and complain about the season lasting too long if there was a playoff, but yet most teams finish their season in late November or early December and have to wait until at least January 1st to play their BCS Bowl game.

Firstly, Most teams are going to be rusty which means they will not be playing their best in the most important game of the season.    Usually makes for a bad BCS game.  Just ask Ohio State last season in the BCS Title game.  They looked great against Michigan in November, but looked like crap against Florida.   What else is new.

Secondly,  when coaching positions at top schools open up, occasionally a BCS team will lost their coach in the process like the case with West Virginia’s Rich Rodriguez.  A great job opens up that they cannot refuse, and simply must leave their teams immediately leaving their team while they are preparing for their BCS Bowl game.  Often times, a team without its leader usually falters making for a bad BCS game which we have all grown used to.  Although it did not seem to effect them as they whooped ass on Oklahoma in the Fiesta Bowl.  Much credit to the WV players for hanging tough and playing hard.

Thirdly, there is nothing special about playing the bowl games on January 1st anymore.  The traditional January 1st bowl schedule is no more.  Only 2 of the top 5 bowl games take place that day.

How about a playoff that starts in early or mid-December and finishes around the early January time frame?  Its a great idea which means it will never happen.

The BCS idiots just do not have a clue…
